Our Mechanical Tradespeople safely perform and coordinate Mechanical maintenance work, including:
- Preparation of work scopes;
- Isolations;
- Handover to and from operations;
- Completion of work activities;
- Commissioning;
- Initial running checks and alignments.
- Component change outs and;
- Routine and ad hoc maintenance requirements.
As a Mechanical Tradesperson at our Portland Smelter you will liaise with internal and external work parties to safely complete tasks to required quality and service levels.
You will optimise the performance of the process and equipment by installing, repairing, commissioning and testing equipment and components. Key to your success is the effective and efficient completion of tasks whilst upholding our environmental, health and safety standards.
Tradespeople utilise their skills, technical knowledge and methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, and may also direct contractors and audit work quality.
All of the above will be in alignment of Portland Aluminium’s Reliability Excellence (REX) and Alcoa Business Systems (ABS) methodologies.

What can you bring to the role
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Mechanical - Fitter & Turner - Trade (Australian Apprenticeship, Tradesperson’s Rights Certificate or equivalent).
- Advanced skills and knowledge necessary to isolate, diagnose, analyse and rectify complex equipment related problems.
- Problem-solving is a major component of this position and an essential skill requirement, along with good communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical advice and direction
- High levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing / industrial or continuous production environment is considered advantageous.
- Commitment to environment, health and safety in the workplace and a willingness to participate in safety improvement initiatives is essential.

Reporting to the zone Water Management Superintendent, this position within our Water Services department will support a team to oversee safe, effective, and timely maintenance of our water network assets.
The purpose of the ‘Chichester Water Management – Saline Technician’ role within the maintenance team is to provide experience and support to the supervisor and other team members where required. They will lead the team on complex tasks and coordinate resources from within the water management department to achieve outcomes that meet department KPIs.
They are also required to fulfill the full scope of tasks required of a CWM Diesel Mechanic including but not exclusive to, Servicing and repairs to diesel engine driven pump sets and generators, Inspections and repairs on submersible pumps and motors and carrying out refueling of any/all Dewatering assets when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs on the fleet of generators and diesel pumps
- Priorities and attend breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime
- Competently diagnose and repair faults in the Dewatering Saline Injection space
- Monitor and update SCADA and provide Saline performance and asset condition transparency
- Monitor and help to maintain spare parts availability
Qualifications and Experience
- Heavy Diesel MEM trade - Cert 3 Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic
- Experience in Dewatering Saline injection environment
- Sound understanding of diesel/electrically driven pump operation/maintenance requirements
- Sound understanding of low voltage circuits, interpreting schematics, electrical diagrams and ability to identify components/fault find

About the Role

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent role and is DIDO. Working on a Sportsman roster of 12 Hour Dayshifts (2ON,3OFF,2ON,2OFF,3ON,2OFF) This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes – bus available from Bunbury location only) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie. As the Technician Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for (safely execute maintenance work within an operation area as per SAP (computerized maintenance management system) processes, maintenance schedules and work instructions as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Demonstrate commitment and conformance to safe work practices and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to the SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the SAP system.
• Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions as directed by the supervisor maintenance or superintendent maintenance.
• Ensure work is done to the highest standard and history is recorded in SAP notifications for future reference.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade certificate, Cert III in Mechanical Engineering (Fitter)
- Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency.
- C class drivers license.
- SAP data entry, work order processing and warehouse functions knowledge
Qualifications for this position are:
- Accredited Working in Confined Spaces Training.
- 2 years’ experience in a relevant or equivalent role, with experience in the resource sector preferred.
- High Risk Work License for Forklift, Elevated Work Platform, High Risk Basic Rigging, Crane tickets highly regarded.
- Trade Certificate required.

About the Role
We are looking for a Heavy-Duty Fitter to join the Mobile Maintenance Team at our Tom Price and Wester Turner Syncline Mining Operations. These are permanent, residential positions based in Tom Price, working 4 days on, 3 nights on and 7 days off, 4 days on, 4 nights on, 6 days off.
You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, scheduled and breakdown maintenance to our fleet of heavy mobile equipment. Our fleet consists of Komatsu haul trucks, CAT Dozers, Graders and Loaders along with a fleet of ancillary and pumping equipment.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Mobile Maintenance Teams, you will be required to:

- Conduct routine inspections of the digger fleet and determine repair action when required
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk & cost
- Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent role and is DIDO. This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes – bus available from Bunbury location only) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie. As the Technician Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for (safely execute maintenance work within an operation area as per SAP (computerized maintenance management system) processes, maintenance schedules and work instructions as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
• Demonstrate commitment and conformance to safe work practices and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to the SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the SAP system.
• Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions as directed by the supervisor maintenance or superintendent maintenance.
• Ensure work is done to the highest standard and history is recorded in SAP notifications for future reference.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade certificate, Cert III in Mechanical Engineering (Fitter)
- Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency.
- C class drivers license.

About the role

The WA Iron Ore team is currently looking to connect with fixed plant mechanical tradespeople who would be interested in joining our world-class maintenance teams in the near future. Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile fleet, conducting inspections and adjustments utilising advanced skills and testing equipment.
Complete a range of maintenance tasks associated within the normal trade role as well as in the areas of low voltage electrical, hydraulic diagnostics and repairs to mobile equipment. Liaise with equipment operators, contractors and staff on minor problems of a technical nature. Provide practical problem solving in trade related areas including diagnostic skills required to troubleshoot equipment defects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Carry out all activities within the whole-of-job scope, including pre-work, preparation of JHAs and/or DWPs, organizing materials, execution, testing, and completion of tasks.
- Ensure that operating and maintenance targets are achieved through self-direction.
- Take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Water Infrastructure assets.

About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- An Australian-recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner/Machinist, or Hydraulics).
- Experience with component changeouts, water pumps, alignments, and the use of laser alignment equipment.
- Experience in Water Thickener and Clarification plants.
- Minimum of a C class Manual Driver’s License.
- Experience in breakdown and fault finding.
- Experience working with heavy fixed plant.
- Exposure to MMAW and gas cutting.
Desirable (though not essential):
- Additional Certifications: HRWL, Rigging (Basic), Dogging, EWP, Working at Heights, Forklift, VLC, Confined Space training, and a current MSIC.

About the Role
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Diesel Fitters for our Field Maintenance teams across our fly in - fly out, 8 days on 6 days off 7 nights on 7 nights off operations.

Reporting to the Water Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and repairs of the water asset equipment across Eliwana. This equipment includes the centrifugal pumps, portable generators, submersible pumps, isolation, and control valves.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs on the fleet of generators and diesel pumps
- Priorities and attend breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime
- Diagnostics and fault finding

Qualifications and Experience

What are we looking for?
- Trade Qualification as a Plant Mechanic
- Minimum 1-year Post-Trade Experience.
- Experience working across either open cut or underground equipment including CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Sandvik, Atlas Copco or Terex. * Please note, no prior experience with Mader is required!
- Keen and driven, can-do attitude.
- Willing to commit to 12 months in Canada.

About the Role
The role will be based at our Western Australia Iron Ore sites in the Pilbara, on an 8/6 7/7 rotating days and night shift, fly in-fly out roster from Perth. This role will be situated on our Jimblebar site, within our Mobile Equipment Maintenance department.
Our MEM departments focus on the below equipment. You will have the opportunity to select your area of expertise in your application:
• Field equipment: (Drills and Excavators) Epiroc drills D65, PV271. Excavators Liebherr 9150, 9400, R996B
• Ancillary equipment: mostly CAT (Wheel Loaders, Track Dozers, Graders, Wheel Dozers, Scraper)
• Trucks (Haul Trucks, Water Carts, Floats, Service Trucks) CAT, Haulmax
• LV / Auxiliary: Highway Trucks, Service Trucks, MPU's, Lighting Plants, Generators
In your role your primary duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Servicing, repairs, inspections, planned and breakdown maintenance on variety of equipment including Komatsu haul trucks, Caterpillar ancillary equipment, Liebherr and Atlas Copco
• Initiating updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment
• Providing input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way
• Committed to a focus on safety, achievement, collaborating and team engagement in all aspects of work

Your role will be site based on a fly-in, fly-out roster from Perth. We have outstanding facilities at the modern FIFO village of Warrawandu which include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet, ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator, and air-conditioning.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
• Australian Recognised Heavy Mechanical Qualifications
• Komatsu haul trucks, Caterpillar ancillary equipment, Liebherr and Atlas Copco experience highly desirable
• Demonstrated diagnostics and breakdown experience with ideally both trucks & ancillary equipment
• Dogging, Rigging and Forklift Licenses are desirable
• A commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
• Computer literacy and/or experience in 1SAP
• Safety first mentality

About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated team members to join our Mobile Equipment Maintenance team as a Mechanical Technician in the OB18 workshop. This role is offered on a fly-in, fly-out roster of 7 days, 7 nights and 14 days off.
Responsibility of the role include:
- Overhaul of fleet CAT machinery such as 785C, 793F Trucks, D10, D10T, 16M,18 series graders, 854, 992, 994 Loaders
- Performing quality checks throughout the rebuild process and post-rebuild to ensure all work adheres to high standards of accuracy and reliability
- Ability to manage work priorities to adhere to shut timeframes and execution deadlines
- Strong ability and use of Cat SIS 2.0 for part identification and replacement
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during all rebuild activities to ensure a secure working environment
- Document and report any unexpected issues or delays during the rebuild process to the supervisor for resolution
- Create notifications using Fiori for all reported faults
- Assist in fault finding by providing key information to maintenance personnel.
About You
- A trade qualification within Mobile Maintenance or experience in an equivalent industry undertaking maintenance activities
- Ability to influence and work with teams to collaboratively problem solve
- Good understanding of work management process including use of SAP/Fiori
- Good organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks
- Flexible, team-orientated approach with strong communications skills
- Be able to work in a reactive, fast paced environment
- OHTC/Forklift/Rigging VOC an advantage

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisors and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Mobile Maintenance Teams, you will be required to:
- Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all RTIO Company Policies and procedures
- Conduct routine inspections of the digger fleet and determine repair action when required
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk & cost
- Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification

BHP are currently seeking highly motivated Heavy Diesel Fitters who are interested in moving to Newman and joining our Newman Operations residential teams for upcoming opportunities.
Newman Operations is part of Western Australian Iron Ore and consists of two mining sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. Comprising of Newman East and Newman West - Newman Operations accounts for about 78 million tonnes in total iron ore production.
